Is Playground a franchise?

No, it is a totally independent magazine and website.

I love the illustrations in the magazine and website, who does them?

Local artist Billy Showell paints all the illustrations.  She is a botanical artist and does the illustrations for a bit of light relief!  Have a look at the gorgeous botanical paintings on her website www.billyshowell.co.uk.

How did Playground start?

As a local mum with local knowledge I thought it was high time that the Tunbridge Wells area had it's own family magazine. I interviewed for a job at a competitor magazine and was turned down, looked at various options including buying a franchise and then decided to go it alone and see what it's really like working for yourself from home! It's been a steep learning curve and a hugely enjoyable challenge. I'm happy to say that Playground is growing and the magazine is now published four times a year in March, June, September and December. With the help of Emma who designs the magazine and Billy who produces the eyecatching illustrations, our aim is to produce a high quality, informative and entertaining magazine and website for families on the Kent and Sussex border.
