What courses and holiday clubs are available in Summer 2009?
Local independent schools open their doors this summer and offer a huge range of courses to suit all tastes - great fun for the kids and great news for working parents!
Conveniently located for the Tunbridge Wells area is Holmewood House School in Langton Green. Tonbridge School also puts on a good range of courses and offers fabulous facilities. Kent College in Pembury is taken over by Camp Beaumont who offers multi-activity day camps for children aged 3 - 16.
Drama kings and queens can sign up for courses with a variety of local theatre schools and put on the performance of their lives. We've picked out Starlight Express which comes to Langton Green Village Hall on 24th and 25th August. With Marissa Dunlop who played Pearl (the female lead in the show) and Leo Bidwell who played Nintendo the Japanese Stunt Train and Rocky 2 in the London cast. We're surrounded by sandstone, so why not give rock climbing a try? Take some time out yourself with local mum and adventurer Sarah Cullen, or book a group of kids on a course with Evolution located in Lye Green, just outside Crowborough. Bowles is not far away and is set next to a dramatic sandstone outcrop. New for August 2009, Bowles outdoor centre is opening up its doors to local children and families for a welcome dose of challenge, activity and fun. Their exciting summer activity programme kicks off with a free open day on the 1st August. Days are themed into Water days, High days and Fun days. Activities will include canoeing, skiing, rock-climbing, rafting, and ropes courses. Prices include a breakfast club, and progressive courses include certificates. Would your children like to make their own movie? Well, they can now over a fun filled, confidence building three days at The Mead School, Tunbridge Wells. They will dream up characters, learn story telling skills, write a script and rehearse under a Director before stepping into the limelight. They will get behind the camera and have a bash at directing as well as learning simple digital film editing and post production techniques. This is the brainchild of local mum Alix Gidney who is on a mission to show young people there is more to film than the celebrity!
