Breakfast Survey

We at Playground loved Janet Penny's photos so much that we had to incorporate them into our magazine.

A quick random breakfast survey seemed to be the perfect way - nothing too scientific or analytical here. Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day... It's amazing how particular children already are about what they like/need in the way of fuel to start the day.  The children we talked to all share a love of good food!

Billy (9)
2 slices of dry toast (Groombridge bakery's thick sliced white) and a glass of Ocean Spray cranberry and blueberry juice. Sometimes has Marmite or peanut butter on toast. If allowed would have a "full English" of sausages, bacon and eggs every day.

Patrick (12)
2 overflowing bowls of cereal, either Cheerios or Shreddies. Mother still has to pick up the fall-out of Cheerios glued to the kitchen floor each morning. Also partial to fresh fruit and plain yoghurt. Keen on cooked breakfasts if suitable ingredients available.

Lottie (12)
Spends hours looking for something that appeals, often ends up eating tinned fruit, also loves pancakes with lemon and sugar, a glass of water. Pancake tip - you don't have to be a domestic goddess to achieve these, buy the ones you can microwave for 30 seconds and add healthy fruit on top.

Angus (8)
Likes to graze on dry cereal in front of the TV, then toast with butter and Marmite (but that's the only time he'll eat butter - will often just have dry toast) and a glass of orange juice (preferably from the milkman). Goes through boiled egg and soldier phases for days in a row.

Georgia (14)
Cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit, cup of tea and always reads a book while eating.

Max (7)
Can't function till he's had a bowl of Rice Krispies, or Weetabix with milk and sugar (have to be put on in strictly that order so that the milk doesn't wash the sugar off the top of the Weetabix), yoghurt, glass of milk, sports pages of the Guardian to check all the football results.

Rosie (11)
A small bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and toast (granary bread) with strawberry jam plus a cup of Earl Grey tea.
