The Wardrobe Fairy
Personal image is more important than ever and dressing to fit in with the latest fashion trends has become tantamount to looking and feeling our best.
But in spite of the vast choice of fashion both on the High Street and internet, finding clothes that actually fit let alone flatter can be very frustrating as you pick your way through endless racks of thigh skimming dresses, military trenches and bulky knits in every shade of purple imaginable, praying your new outfit looks de rigeur and not like an advert for Ribena. Like most I have made my fair share of fashion faux pas over the year (think sonewashed denim). Now in my 40's and with a wobbly behind it's even harder to dress fashionably without looking like mutton dressed as lamb or worse twice my age!
Hence my delight at discovering The Wardrobe Fairy (AKA Victoria Genevieve), a friendly, enthusiastic and experienced fashion adviser who not only makes you look good, but feel good too. Her service includes a wardrobe management consultation, so I invited her to take a peek in my wardrobe and help me discard any outfits that had passed their sell-by-date, were ill fitting or simply didn't suit me.
Her straightforward but kind approach was refreshing and inspite of her insistence that chunky polar necks (which make up half my wardrobe) were doing nothing for my large bust and questioning if I really did need five almost identical black jackets, she made me feel positive and not depressed at the large pile of abandoned clothes.
What's more, The Wardrobe Fairy's online boutique offers a resale service, so although the clothes were no longer any good for me, they were bagged up, photographed and put online (all done by TWF) ready to be sold to a loving new owner and I would make money too!
The hard bit over and with lots of space to fill with shiny new clothes, it was time for some retail therapy and with my own personal shopper in tow it was so much more fun. Proffering lots of expert advice on which shops stock cuts that flatter my pear shape, what colours complement my skin tone and hair colour, and generally what styles suit my figure, Victoria made me feel more confident about spending my hard earned cash.
The whole experience helped me understand how to highlight my best assets and I got some great outfits to boot. I will certainly be visiting The Wardrobe Fairy again so she can sprinkle some more of her magic!
The Wardrobe Fairy advises on all ages from prom queens to yummy mummies to glamorous grannies.
